About Sugar Flower

Welcome to Sugar Flower Cookies!   I'm glad you are here.
Like most people, cookies have been a big part of my life for as long as I can remember—the first things I ever learned to make were chocolate chip cookies off the back of the Nestle morsels package. Over the years, and watching too many cooking shows to count, I expanded my repertoire both in consumption and creation, from brownies to cupcakes to sticky toffee pudding.  But when I want something to comfort my tummy and my soul, I always come back to cookies-the gooier the better.

Sugar Flower’s story began with Amanda Proscia, a prodigious baker who I met at a summer beach share.  When she started selling her cookies, I made everyone at my job order them as client gifts.  The response was enthusiastic.  Secretly, I said to myself, maybe someday we can do this together. When Amanda closed her kitchen, Sugar Flower sat quietly for a decade, waiting for a new chapter.

That chapter began when I left NYC and moved to Midcoast Maine, seeking a life change and a chance to do something completely different. I rang up Amanda.  So, armed with my late aunt's Kitchenaid Professional, and with Amanda’s blessing, I reworked her recipes, gave the brand a fresh new look, and brought Sugar Flower back to life.

Today, Sugar Flower is a tribute to friendship, reinvention, and sharing joy. Thank you for sharing with me.
